Nicholas Yap is an impact-driven investigative video journalist and documentary filmmaker from Malaysia focusing on human stories impacted by issues and policies of the past, present and future—to promote deeper comprehension and understanding all in the public interest.

Nicholas is the executive producer and co-founder of Kource, an independent, youth-driven not-for-profit journalism outfit. He is also an investigative journalist and producer for The Fourth. His works have featured in The Star and R.AGE.

Nicholas is a Pulitzer Center Rainforest Investigations Network fellow, 2024 One World Media fellow, exchange alumnus of the prestigious International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) and alumnus of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI)—a recognition bestowed by the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur for his impactful journalistic contributions, marking him as an emerging leader within the region.

Nicholas has worked with other creative groups, and regional and global organisations and institutions on various other productions and campaigns including Flux28, Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network (APRRN), the International Drug Policy Consortium (IDPC), Centre for Independent Journalism Malaysia (CIJ Malaysia), KRYSS Network, Migration For Development & Equality (MIDEQ) and Monash University Malaysia.
